The research group Healthy Architecture & City has undertaken the initiative to edit and publish a series of informative, educational guides. These provide practical advice and architectural recommendations for the design and adaptation of buildings, environments, and living spaces tailored to people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their carers—spanning residential, community facility, and domestic scales.
The aim of these guides is to inform the general public about the design requirements needed in homes and buildings to provide spatial, sensory, and environmental stimulation for users with this condition. This enables them to better carry out instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), achieve greater autonomy in their decision-making, and consequently enjoy a higher quality of life.
