SEVILLE / January 28, 2025

In the next 10 years, 42,800 homes adapted for people with Alzheimer’s will be needed in Andalusia. This is a conclusion of the research team Healthy Architecture & City of the School of Architecture with which the Andalusian Alzheimer’s Confederation (ConFEAFA) collaborates through an agreement with the University of Seville. According to the Higher Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain, there are 26 million homes in the country, of which only 0.6% of the total housing stock (about 154,800 homes) are accessible. The adaptation of some of these homes to the group of people with cognitive diversity is an urgent need, as our group stated in this news item published in the ABC newspaper of Seville in November 2023.
