Adrian Garcia-Zaragoza

After completing my Degree in Chemistry at the University of Valencia, I had the opportunity to do my Final Degree Project in the group of Dr. Emilio Pardo. My research focused on the capture of dyes by using original MOFs formed from amino acids and strontium.

Afterwards, I completed a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Technology, a UPV-CSIC joint center in Valencia, Spain, under the supervision of Dr. Luis M. Martínez-Prieto. My work focused on the selective hydrogenation of organic molecules of interest using Ru-based catalysts functionalized with N-heterocyclic carbenes. This work was subsequently published in Catalysis Science & Technology (DOI: 10.1039/D1CY02063C).

In 2021, I started my PhD under the joint supervision of Dr. Martínez-Prieto and Dr. Oña-Burgos, working on the European LAURELIN project to reduce CO2 emissions through its selective hydrogenation to green methanol. At the same time, I have continued my research on selective hydrogenation, some of which have been recently published (DOI: 10.1039/D2SC04228B, DOI: 10.1039/D3NR02083E).
