The increase in inequality in the United States and in other countries has raised the interest in knowing their causes. Much of these remain unknown since not all the characteristics of workers can be observed. Namely two thirds of the variance in wages remains in what is usually called salary residue. Our work tries to analyze whether the evolution of the variance of this residue is due either to changes in the remuneration to the unobserved or the variance of these same characteristics features. For this analysis we developed a number of assumptions including that allows us to identify both.
