He completed a BA in Classics at the University of Cambridge, a postgraduate course on Secondary Education (Latin and Greek) at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow) and an MA in Applied Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh.
He obtained his Ph.D the field of Historical Sociolinguistics at the University of Seville, Spain.
