Who we are

The research group AGR-268 Urban Greening and Biosystems Engineering brings together a number of researchers and professors of the School of Agricultural Engineering of the University of Sevillecovering a wide range of specialties (gardening and landscaping, irrigation and water management, soil …).

The Naturib team works on numerous research projects and technological developments related primarily with Urban Greening. This concept brings together all initiatives to integrate nature in urban areas, both traditionally (parks, urban trees …) and more specifically new trends in the use of vegetation in buildings (green roofs and vertical greening systems). The main objectives of Naturib are, among others, the search for solutions and optimization of systems that integrate natural elements in our cities. Also, we try to quantify the benefits associated with these initiatives so in order to value them and encourage their use.

We work on other projects and studies in the field of Agronomy, associated with the use of new technologies or the optimization of existing techniques.

Projects and studies conducted are summarized in the following major lines of research:

  • Development and Evaluation of New Urban Greening Systems
  • Air conditioning and energy efficiency in buildings using Greening Systems
  • Optimizing water use in agriculture and gardening
  • Aquaponics

Naturib members participate in the Agricultural Engineering, Food, Forestry and Sustainable Rural Development PhD program.
