A total of 680 patients with axial spondyloarthritis in Spain vs. 2166 with axial spondyloarthritis in 12 European countries were evaluated. With respect to the rest of European patients, Spanish patients showed a longer diagnostic delay (8.5 vs 7.2), higher disease activity (5.7 vs 5.4), and a higher unemployment rate (21.7% vs 9.2%). In addition, Spanish patients had a higher risk of psychological stress as measured by the GHQ-12 (5.7 vs 4.8).
