Impact and situation of Migraine in Spain: Atlas 2018
The Atlas of Migraine in Spain 2018 is an initiative of the Spanish Association of Migraine and Headache (AEMICE), carried out by the Health & Territory Research Group (HTR) of the University of Seville (US), with the collaboration of Novartis.
This report evaluates the situation of people with migraine by means of a questionnaire addressed to patients, the opinion of a multidisciplinary group of experts, the review of scientific literature and the analysis of various sources of information. Documentary information from scientific publications and official documents is collected to support the data obtained in the questionnaire. All of this allows an approach to the reality of people who suffer from migraine by studying the care they receive, their limitations, the treatments and the personal consequences of suffering this disease.
This Atlas attempts to cover key aspects of the disease, such as the existence of assessment guidelines, diagnostic delay, health care, comorbidity, pharmacological treatment, psychological health, limitations and disability, healthy habits, social burden, impact at work and the perspective of the patient, the family member and the professional who treats the disease. The final objective is to provide scientific evidence to establish proposals and recommendations aimed at improving the quality of life of the patient
