Computer-assisted detection/diagnosis of melanocytic skin patterns in dermatoscopic images

Scope

In collaboration with the Dermatology Unit of Virgen del Rocío University Hospitals and Bajo Guadalquivir Hospitals we aim at developing detection systems for dermatoscopic images of melanocytic lesions that can assist the dermatologist in malignancy assessment.

As opposed to most of the existing work in skin pigmented lesion CAD, we do not apply the ABCD (Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter) rule but instead follow an emerging trend in dermatology: assessing the malignancy of the lesion in terms of the distribution of variations in the pigmented networks typically found in this type of skin lesion.
