Our history

In 1996 Begoña Acha and Carmen Serrano started their PhD thesis in the field of Digital Image Processing with biomedical applications. Since them, thanks to fruitful collaborations with different universities and hospitals all around the world and thanks to the involvement in different successful projects, the group has been growing both in experience and in people.

Aim

The main goal of this research group is to help physicians in their daily practice of the Medicine, although the group has also researched in algorithms for general purpose images.  This aim is reached in two main applications: development of tools for helping medical doctors in surgical planning and development of tools for assistance in diagnosis. Up to date, our main research has been focused in color and 3D images.

The team
