Analysis of retinographies to help diagnosis of glaucoma

Scope

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world, and its incidence rate is expected to increase because of the aging population, affecting approximately 80 million people in 2020. Once loss of a visual field occurs, it cannot be regained, therefore early diagnosis and treatment are key to minimizing the chance of significant visual impairment. The level of affectation can be measured with the Cup to Disc Ratio (CDR). In the present study, methods to automatically segment cup and optic disk and measure their ratio are developed.
