Empowering Resilient Motherhood of Migrant, Refugee and Roma Women for their Psychosocial Well-being
What is MadresUP?
It is a research and community action project focused on enhancing the psychosocial well-being of Latina, African, and Roma women through the promotion of resilient and empowered motherhood, using a methodology based on peer mentoring, mutual support groups, and accompaniment by non-minoritized mothers.

Phases of MothersUP
Development of the Framework

Review of the scientific literature on minoritized motherhoods and mental health & best practices. -
Conducting
in-depth interviews to capture the motherhood experiences of minoritized women.
Implementation of community-based intervention

Selection and
training mothers as mentors for a group of mothers with similar profiles. -
Implementation of the community intervention led by mentor mothers through mutual support group sessions with beneficiary mothers. -
Days of coexistence between all the groups of mothers in the project , accompanied by non-minoritized volunteer mothers.
Evaluation and Dissemination of Project Activities and Results

Evaluation of the
implementation process of the community intervention and its effectiveness in improving the psychosocial well-being of the participants. - Dissemination of the project and its results.
