We welcome Sharlys Jardim, PhD student at the State University of North Fluminense (UENF) in Brazil. She is carrying out her doctoral thesis project “The Construction of Roma Identity in Comparative Perspective: Statements and Dilemmas of the Roma People in Brazil and Spain” under the direction of Dr. Mauro Macedo Campos (Brazil).
From April to September 2024, Sharlys Jardim will spend six months with our MadresUP team, with Virginia Paloma as supervisor. Within the project, Sharlys Jardim will support the conducting of interviews with Roma mothers, as well as a literature review on Roma motherhood and mental health.
Her stay is funded by the Sandwich PhD Programme of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) of the Brazilian Ministry of Education.
