ABSTRACT:
The room impulse response (RIR), recorded at a reception point when the sound source emits from the location of the emitter, contains all the information necessary to describe the acoustic behaviour within a room. In order to characterize the enclosure as a whole, several emission and reception positions are commonly used. Current computers, equipped with suitable hardware and software, enable these RIRs to be registered, processed and analysed in an efficient way in accordance with the criteria of the international standards applicable in each case.
This paper presents a blind comparative study of three systems for the measurement of room acoustics. Comparisons have been drawn up from the impulse responses measured in the auditorium of the School of Architecture of Seville with each of the three sets of equipment by means of the same type of excitation signal. To this end, the main parameters of room acoustics from standard ISO 3382-1 have been calculated. For each parameter calculated, the differences between both the spatially averaged value in octave bands and the spectral average at each reception point have been studied. In order to evaluate the differences found, the Just Noticeable Difference (JND), has been taken as a reference.
