ABSTRACT:
When a thermal comfort study is done for venues with various conditions of use or HVAC systems, it is usual to resort to energy simulation techniques using fluid dynamics, due to their greater flexibility. However, using these techniques there is some uncertainty about their reliability with regard to the real behaviour of this venue, so a calibration process is needed, in which both the boundary conditions and the validity of the simulation tool are evaluated.
The present study develops the calibration of the CFD module of "Design Builder v2.4.2.026" software, based on a comparative essay with two phases: measurement of thermal parameters in a real venue, and the generation of a simulation model of this venue, in which the "grid independence" is also tested.
