Synergies between global change drivers on bee populations

Carlos Zaragoza. Estación Biológica de Doñana. Supervisors: Ignasi Bartomeus.
Summary:
Insect mediated pollination is a fundamental process for terrestrial ecosystems as well as for crop production. Bee populations are declining as a consequence of pressures of different global change drivers and there is growing evidence that these pressures do not act in isolation hence having interactive complex effects. The aims of that thesis is to explore the interaction between three of these drivers: climate change, pesticides exposure and landscape transformation. To that end we use different model species with contrasting life histories and upscale specific responses to the community level.
