Master of Science in Sil Mechanics from the University of London (Imperial College) with the highest qualification (mark of distinction).

Full Professor in the area of Geotechnical Engineering since 1971.

He has been principal investigator in 22 research projects and 12 research contracts, and has participated as a researcher in 5 other projects. He has been awarded the six possible sexenios of research, consecutively.

He is the author of 18 books, 58 book chapters, 119 articles in scientific journals, 58 articles in major newspapers, 111 publications in conference proceedings and director of 15 doctoral theses. He has also been Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Seville for six years.
