Dr. Isabel González de León is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Building Structures and Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Seville (US). She is currently a Substitute Teaching Tutor at the Department of Industrial Design Engineering (US).
She received her Msc. and bachelor’s degrees in Architecture in 2015 from the US. In 2016, she was awarded with an Argo grant from the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), and in 2017 she became the R+D+I Technical Staff of the TEP-107 research group through a competitive call. In 2018, she was awarded an FPI pre-doctoral research grant from the Spanish Government at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where she joined the ATEM (Analysis and Technology of Structures and Materials) research group and received her PhD in Constructional Engineering in 2023. Her thesis was entitled “Structural behaviour of stainless steel portal frames. Safety against accidental seismic actions”.
She has skills in planning and execution of complex experimental programmes, advanced finite element analysis and USA and European design codes. Her main research topics are Steel Structures, Structural Stability, Seismic Engineering and Geotechnics.
She has undertaken two research stays at the Università degli Studi di Salerno in Italy, producing 4 manuscripts with them. Regarding her experience in the transfer-of-knowledge through international standardising bodies, it should be highlighted her assistance to the Working Group 04 (Eurocode 3) online meetings and to the 6th International Expert Seminar on Stainless Steel in Structures (2022) and her co-authorship of a benchmark example for the Technical Report to prEN 1993-1-14. Additionally, she is a customary reviewer of JCR Journals: Engineering Structures, Scientific Reports and Structures.
So far, she has participated in 3 national research projects and her scientific production includes 6 journal papers already published (100% JCR Q1 journals) and 3 peer-reviewed international conference papers. She has an h-index 5 and 80 cites in Scopus.
