Financing: Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation
Duration: 2021-2025
Summary:
The optimal operating conditions of an autothermal biomass gasification process with steam and in situ CO₂ capture are studied. Operating parameters are defined
to maximize H₂ production and CO₂ capture. The experimental use of low-cost catalysts is investigated, which significantly enhances the conversion of char gasification at the relatively low temperatures at which the gasifier operates. The catalytic effect of calcium sorbents on tar reforming is experimentally characterized. An experimental study is carried out to define the optimal operating conditions that allow the separation of different solid streams in a fluidized bed (char, sorbent, and inert solids) for optimal functioning of the various process components (gasifier, calciner, and solar receiver).
