Since its first edition at Laredo (Santander, Spain), on July 2000, the "Iberian Meeting on Computational Electromagnetism" has been held with remarkable success four additional times: the meetings of Aracena (Huelva, Spain, 2001), Sedano (Burgos, Spain, 2003), Seia (Guarda, Portugal, 2005) and Aiguablava (Girona, Spain, 2007). These periodic meetings allow members and leaders of Spanish and Portuguese research groups involved in applications of Electromagnetism to various branches of engineering (with emphasis on electrical communications topics) to share information about their research lines. These contacts increase the probability of starting new collaborations between the members of a community whose activity could be diluted in the context of wider scope conferences and symposia. This fact favors cooperation agreements which eventually lead to joint projects. The meeting differs from regular conferences or symposia in the format. Long presentations focused on research lines of the groups rather than on punctual contributions are favored. State of the art and relevant global results are usually presented. Usually, no more than one presentation per group and research line is considered. The sixth edition of the meeting will be organized by members of the Microwaves Group (University of Seville, Seville, Spain) and Prof. Juan R. Mosig (Laboratoire d'Electromagnetisme et Acoustique, EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland). In this sixth edition, as it was already done at the previous edition (Aiguablava, Girona, 2007), the meeting will include some tutorials on topics related with computational electromagnetism. In charge of these tutorials we will count with internationally recognized specialists. The information about the tutorials is included in the programme. But the main novelty of this edition is the joint celebration with the
"II LEMA-EPFL Workshop on Integral Techniques for Electromagnetics".
LEMA-EPFL 2nd Workshop on "Integral Techniques for Electromagnetics" (INTELECT'2008) will be jointly held with "VI Iberian Meeting on Computational Electromagnetics" the 21st of October 2008 at the same location. This Workshop deals with integral-based techniques for Computational Electromagnetics. A non exhaustive topics list includes:
In this meeting organizers usually try to promote dialog and sharing of ideas among attendees even outside of programme sessions. In order to achieve this goal, all the editions of the Iberian Meeting on Computational Electromagnetism have been held in small towns and picturesque locations, thus avoiding spreading out of participants which are encouraged to share lunch, dinners and social life. Following this tradition, we have chosen for the sixth issue of our meeting Hotel Iberostar Andalucía Playa (****), which is located at "La Barrosa Beach", near Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz, Spain).
"La Barrosa" beach spreads along more than eight and a half kilometers at the Spanish "Costa de la Luz" being since a few years a first class tourist resort. The beach environment is a system of sand dunes limited by two cliffs housing beautiful small coves and breathtaking landscapes.
Average temperature
Average temperatures by the end of October are very pleasant (maxima average: 24.7 C; minima average: 14.2 C) and water temperature is high enough to allow swimming and taking a bath, at least for those most daring. The area of the beach where the hotel is located is called "Novo Sancti Petri" (do not confuse with "Sancti Petri", another area near the coast with a small harbor). There are several sport facilities (among them, a nice gulf course), numerous hotels, shopping centers and restaurants. There is public bus connection with the town of Chiclana (about 6 km away).
