The arrival of Dr. Lene Arnett Jensen represents a fundamental boost to our research lines on Emerging Adulthood in Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A solid trajectory in human developmental psychology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Lene Arnett Jensen earned her Ph.D. from the Committee on Human Development at the University of Chicago and completed her postdoctoral training in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. Her academic career led her to join the Department of Psychology at Clark University in 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout her career, she held the Nehru Distinguished Chair at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in India and has been a visiting scholar at prestigious international institutions such as Stanford University (2016\u20132017), the University of Bordeaux (2017\u20132018), and Tufts University (2019\u20132020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The cultural-developmental approach: understanding development in a global world<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The central goal of Dr. Jensen&#8217;s research and professional collaborations is to orient the study of human development toward a framework that encompasses both universal and cultural aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a world marked by globalization and constant interactions among diverse cultures, her cultural-developmental approach proposes that throughout our growth, we learn, respond to, and actively participate in the customs and values of our culture, contributing to its shaping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Jensen\u2019s research delves into how moral development and cultural identity are constructed in the face of globalization challenges and cultural tensions between liberal and conservative religious groups. To this end, she has led fieldwork with groups of diverse ages, ethnicities, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds in countries such as Denmark, India, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, and Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Publications and academic leadership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Jensen is the author and co-editor of some of the most influential reference works in the discipline, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Human Development: A Cultural Approach<\/em> (4th ed., 2026, with Jeffrey Arnett).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood: A Cultural Approach<\/em> (7th ed., 2024, with Jeffrey Arnett).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>The Oxford Handbook of Moral Development: An Interdisciplinary Perspective<\/em> (2020).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>The Oxford Handbook of Human Development and Culture: An Interdisciplinary Perspective<\/em> (2015 and 2016).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to her teaching and research work, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the journal <em>New Directions for Child and Adolescent Development<\/em> (2004\u20132015), chaired the 2012 Biennial Meeting of the Society for Research on Adolescence, and currently serves on editorial boards such as the <em>Journal of Adolescent Research<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the TAE Project, we celebrate her joining and the theoretical and methodological enrichment that her experience will bring to the study of youth in Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">The Transition to Adulthood in Spain (TAE) Project relies on the joint institutional collaboration of researchers from the Universidad de Sevilla, the Escuela Universitaria de Osuna (an affiliated center of the Universidad de Sevilla), and the Universidad del Pa\u00eds Vasco\/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Project PID2024-155825NB-I00 financed by MICIU\/AEI\/10.13039\/501100011033\/FEDER, UE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are delighted to announce an important update regarding the Transition to Adulthood in Spain (TAE) Project: Dr. Lene Arnett Jensen, one of the most prominent international academic figures in the field of cultural developmental psychology, is joining our team.
