This increase in survival is linked to increased effects that are manifested at different levels, significantly affecting the quality of life of patients and their families.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Neurological diseases are the leading cause of disability in people over 65 years. Respectively, acquired neurological disability after spinal cord injury or as an onset of brain damage is expected to become one of the top five health problems with greater impact in 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These diseases do not have a radical cure, but medical science can now control their symptoms and prevent or delay their progression. Treatments such as neurorehabilitation can reduce the degree of impairment of brain injury patients, but they are burdensome and with limited existing resources<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Purpose<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <b>PROCUR@ <\/b>project develops a prevention, e-care and e-rehabilitation platform, focused on neurodegenerative diseases patients and their environment. Aside from integral and interdisciplinary care, <b>PROCUR@ <\/b>will promote a virtual community bringing together different health professionals, other users, home care takers, friends and relatives.<\/p>\n<p>In order to encourage the users\u2019 involvement, <b>PROCUR@ <\/b>will deploy three Social Spaces for Research and Innovation (SSRI) in the three validation scenarios:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parkinson\u2019s disease SSRI, sponsored by Asociaci\u00f3n de Parkinson de Arag\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<li>Alzheimer\u2019s disease SSRI, sponsored by Centros Novaire in Alicante.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cerebrovascular Accident SSRI focused on the research in educational, social and support aspects in clinical environments, which will be constructed among staff, patients and relatives from the \u201cUniversity Hospital Virgen del Roc\u00edo\u201d in Seville in collaboration with \u201cHospital Juan Ram\u00f3n Jim\u00e9nez\u201d in Huelva.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To design and develop the <b>PROCUR@ <\/b>platform, easy access and low cost technologies (internet, webcams, computers, gaming devices, etc.) will be used.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Result<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The following functionalities will be developed under the <b>PROCUR@ <\/b>\u201cumbrella\u201d:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A technological platform incorporating both low-cost devices already on the market (sensors, controls, etc.) as well as new devices that might appear in the future.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">An environment where specialized providers will offer their services using the tools developed during the project\u2019s lifetime or deploying new applications.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A mechanism allowing health professionals prescribe exercises to their patients and, after recording how they were performed, check results in order to follow the patient\u2019s evolution.<\/li>\n<li>Access to resources offering information about the different pathologies.<\/li>\n<li>A meeting point where patients, caregivers and families can talk to each other and find support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>PROCUR@ <\/b>has received a grant from the Spanish Ministerio de Econom\u00eda y Competitividad, as a part of the Health Special Actuation in the 2008-2011 National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Innovation and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rtc.us.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/descarga.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-996\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rtc.us.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/descarga.jpg\" alt=\"descarga\" width=\"190\" height=\"83\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rtc.us.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/descarga-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-995 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rtc.us.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/descarga-1.jpg\" alt=\"descarga (1)\" width=\"194\" height=\"83\" srcset=\"https:\/\/grupo.us.es\/rtclab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/descarga-1.jpg 342w, https:\/\/grupo.us.es\/rtclab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/descarga-1-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <b>PROCUR@ <\/b>project is aligned with the strategic agendas of the Spanish technological platforms eVIA, es.INTERNET and INES and it has been endorsed by their respective basic seals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rtc.us.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/INES.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-999\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rtc.us.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/INES.png\" alt=\"INES\" width=\"222\" height=\"66\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>PROCUR@<\/b>\u00a0is developed by: Logica, \u00a0AIJU, Flowlab, Solutio,\u00a0Hospitales Universitarios Virgen del Roc\u00edo, Universidad de Sevilla y Universidad de Zaragoza.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Research staff at University of Seville:.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Jos\u00e9 Luis Sevillano Ramos<br \/>\n&#8211; Gabriel Jim\u00e9nez Moreno<br \/>\n&#8211; Rosa Mar\u00eda Y\u00e1\u00f1ez G\u00f3mez<br \/>\n&#8211; Daniel Cascado Caballero<br \/>\n&#8211; Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Mor\u00f3n Fern\u00e1ndez<\/p>\n<h3>More information in:<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/innovation.logica.com.es\/web\/procura\">http:\/\/innovation.logica.com.es\/web\/procura<\/a><br \/>\nTwitter:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ProyectoProcura\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/ProyectoProcura<\/a><br \/>\nFacebook:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ProyectoProcura\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"me nofollow noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ProyectoProcura<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Open platform to support the prevention and rehabilitation of neurodegenerative diseases.
