Contratada Doctora, ambos de la\u00a0Universidad de Sevilla.<\/p>\n The focus this seminar is examine the implications of the globalization of value chains for the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism industry.<\/p>\n In this seminar, the spekers propose a\u00a0global value chains framework to examine the role and dynamic of small and medium sized tourism enterprises (SMEs), and the development prospects for countries within them. First, the spekers\u00a0review literature about tourism\u2019s contribution to development. Second, the current configuration of global value chains in tourism industry is analysed. Third, they\u00a0put forward the hypothesis that how the GVC approach can be used to study the role that tourism SMEs may play in the present context of globalisation.
