Us
The research group 'Memory and Communication: The Political Uses of the Past' (HUM-1087) from the University of Seville was established with the aim of promoting research on representations of the past conveyed through various forms of communication, which are used for political purposes in the present. In this way, our research lies at the intersection of memory studies and those focused on media and the cultural industry.
Interests
We are interested in the theoretical study of memory, as well as its trajectory and how representations of the past have been used, throughout history and in different geographical contexts, for identity construction and the justification of present "policies".These representations have historically been disseminated through various forms of communication, such as museums, textbooks, cinema, and the press, but also through the urban landscape and social media.
