Merchant Navy Officer. Professor of Human Geography at the University of Seville (Emeritus Professor). Research activity has focused on the geographical consequences of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, maritime policy and coastal- marine management. Author of more than one hundred academic publications in books and international journals (Marine Policy, Ocean and Coastal Management, Sociologia Ruralis, Coastal Management, Geopolitics, Blackwell Sicence, Ashgate, Kluwer Academic Press, Amsterdam University Press, Thomson Reuters, Routledge, Springer) and consultant for national and international organisations (European Parliament, European Commission, Mediterranean Action Plan, Inter-American Development Bank, IOC-UNESCO).
Graduate in Geography and History and PhD in Geography. Professor of Human Geography at the University of Seville. In terms of teaching, he has extensive experience in both university and non-university education and has held various management positions. He is currently Head of the Department of Human Geography at the University of Seville. In the field of research, he has participated in numerous regional, national and European projects covering topics such as fisheries management, marine spatial planning and maritime geopolitics. He has published in leading journals (Marine Policy, Ocean & Coastal Management, Geopolitics, etc.) and with renowned publishers such as Springer, Ashgate and Kluwer. He has also participated in projects and advisory tasks for institutions of the Andalusian regional government.
Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Seville. He has focused much of his research on Fisheries Anthropology, covering topics such as small-scale fisheries, marine governance, and cultural heritage. Notably, he has participated in interdisciplinary research networks involving marine biology, ecology, economics, maritime geography, social psychology, and archaeology, and has collaborated with various social organisations — including academic, environmental, and fishing groups — since 2010 to transform management methods and promote maritime and fishing culture.

Anthropologist who has focused her research on marine policies and jurisdictions, with particular attention to spatial planning, fishing activities, and especially adaptive management, governance, and heritage. She has worked in academia and, for the past ten years, in NGOs, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams with the aim of promoting the ecological transition through the transformation of marine socio-ecosystems and the conservation, protection, and monitoring of marine biodiversity.

Associate Professor III in the Graduate Program in Political Science (PPGCPol) at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), Brazil. She is the Coordinator of the Center for Strategic Studies and Marine Spatial Planning (CEDEPEM) and is actively involved in several research groups with national and international reach. She was one of the founders of the Working Group on Humanities and the Oceans within the Interministerial Commission for Marine Resources (CIRM), an agency linked to the Brazilian government.
Her primary research focus is on Humanities applied to Marine Spatial Planning and Climate Governance, addressing themes such as international cooperation, community empowerment, and environmental policies. She is the author of numerous scientific articles published in journals such as Development Studies Research (Taylor and Francis), Ocean & Coastal Management, Le Monde Diplomatique, and the International Journal of Geosciences, as well as book chapters for publishers like Routledge, Palgrave, IRD Éditions, Nova Science Publishers, and Editora Textos (Brazil).
