The MadresUP Project at the Mental Health Commissioner’s Office

Our colleague Virginia Paloma has been invited by the Mental Health Commissioner of the Ministry of Healthto present the MadresUP Project during a seminar addressed to all the Ministries of Health of the Autonomous Communities of Spain. The seminar, held on 24 March, aimed to show three good practices at national level that can inspire the development and funding of programmes aligned with the Mental Health Action Plan 2025-2027 of the Government of Spain.

The MadresUP project, funded by the State Research Agency, is led by the Centre for Research and Community Action of the University of Seville(CESPYD) in partnership with five other entities. The aim of MadresUP is to increase the mental health of culturally minoritised mothers through community-based mentoring and peer support groups.

The MadresUP project has an Implementation Manual to facilitate its replication, and these video reports provide a first glimpse of the work being done with African, Latina and Roma mothers.

All information is available on the project website, as well as on CESPYD’s Instagram and LinkedIn profiles.
