Meeting of MadresUP in the framework of 8M

As part of the commemoration of 8 March, International Women’s Day, on 6 March, a get-together was held with the mothers participating in the MadresUP Latina programme. The activity brought together women who have been part of both the first and second editions of the programme, creating a valuable space for reunion. It was held at the Arrupe Centre in collaboration with the Ecca-Social Foundation.

During the day, the mothers shared experiences, memories and lessons learned from their participation in the programme, while at the same time opening a space for collective reflection on the inspiration of being a woman and a mother in migratory contexts. The meeting strengthened the bonds between the participants and allowed them to recognise the paths they had travelled in their personal and community processes.

The get-together was also a moment of relaxation and celebration, in which the mothers were able to enjoy a close atmosphere of mutual care and collective recognition.

In addition, the activity was visited by students from the Master’s Degree in Psychology of Social and Community Intervention from the University of Seville, who shared the day with the participants, creating a space for exchange between the academic sphere and the community experiences of the programme.

This meeting reaffirms the importance of continuing to create spaces of support, recognition and encounter between women, where the experiences of migrant motherhood can be shared, celebrated and made visible.
