We are pleased to announce that Julia Jiménez-Ceballos, member of the MadresUP project, has been awarded the Prize for the Best Scientific Publication with participation of young researchers in 2025. This recognition was awarded on Tuesday 24 February during the main event of the 50th anniversary of Psychology Studies in Seville held at the Faculty of Psychology, as part of the activities commemorating the Patron Saint of Psychology.
The winning publication, entitled “The Experience of Migrant Mothers of African Origin in Spain: A Human Rights-based Approach to Mental Health”, was published in the American Journal of Community Psychology (2025) and addresses, from a human rights approach, the experiences of migrant mothers of African origin in contexts of social vulnerability in Spain.
This paper, co-signed by Virginia Paloma, Julia Jiménez-Ceballos, Tatiana Duque and Daniela Miranda, represents a significant contribution of the MadresUp project to scientific knowledge on migrant motherhood, social inequalities and mental health from a community and human rights perspective.
The award ceremony was attended by Carmen Vargas, Rector of the University of Seville, José Tenorio, Dean of the Official College of Psychology of Western Andalusia, as well as other academic authorities, who underlined the quality and relevance of the scientific work carried out by young researchers at our centre.
