Between 16 October and 6 November, the training process for the creation of the group of Romany Mentor Mothers took place, within the framework of the MadresUP project. In total, five Roma mothers from the Polígono Sur actively participated in this first training phase, which consisted of seven sessions of three hours each.
The process has been carried out in the Polígono Sur itself, which has strengthened the community bond and created a close and safe space for the participants. Throughout the sessions, the mothers have worked on communication skills, peer support strategies and tools to promote wellbeing and family strengthening based on their own experiences and knowledge.
The training marks the starting point of the future intervention led by the Roma Mentor Mothers themselves, who will play a key role in accompanying other mothers in the community, fostering mutual support networks and female empowerment processes in the territory.
This milestone represents a significant advance in the objective of the MadresUP project: to promote maternal community leadership that contributes to the improvement of well-being and social inclusion from a culturally situated perspective.
