On 13 June, at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Seville, we celebrated with great joy and pride the graduation of 10 Latina mothers who completed their training process in mentoring, within the framework of the MadresUP project.
These courageous and committed women persevered through 12 training sessions focused on managing emotions, wellbeing, resilience and empowerment in motherhood. During this time, they not only acquired valuable tools to accompany other mothers, but also built a safe space to share, heal and grow together as migrant women and mothers.
The ceremony was a deeply moving moment, with speeches by Virginia Paloma as head of MadresUP and coordinator of CESPYD. We also heard from Sylvia Villalba, a technician from ECCA Social. Both special guests highlighted the strength and commitment of these women in their journey towards peer mentoring. Three of the graduating mothers also took the floor to share their experiences, testifying to the transformative impact this process has had on their lives.
This graduation not only marks the end of a stage, but also makes visible the power of community, the importance of creating support networks, and the value of shared knowledge among mothers who face common challenges from different migrant backgrounds.
In addition, as part of the process, the mentor mothers participated in a photovoice experience, where, through images and stories, they expressed their experiences, emotions and reflections on motherhood, migration and empowerment. We invite you to visit the virtual gallery and learn about their powerful stories:
