Last Friday, 14th March, we started the implementation of the MadresUP community intervention with mothers of Latin American origin, a program designed to strengthen confidence and resilience. This is just the beginning, as it will soon also start with mothers of other profiles, such as African mothers and Roma mothers.
MadresUP is based on peer support and peer mentoring, where the mothers themselves, based on their experiences and learning, become references and guides for others. From this first group of Latina mothers, future mentors will emerge who will accompany and strengthen the mothers who join in the next editions, thus ensuring the sustainability and impact of the program.
The path we walk together is structured in three phases:
Climate of Trust: We create a safe space where we can share our stories, build bonds and recognize each other in motherhood.
Strengthening Resilience: We reflect on self-care, self-compassion, and the importance of support networks in our psychosocial well-being.
Empowering Resilience: We address the challenges we face as mothers, analyze the inequalities that affect our well-being, and build collective responses to address them.
The programme will culminate with an emotional graduation on 13 June, a moment of celebration of personal and collective growth. However, beyond the closure of this edition, MadresUP will continue to expand, with new mothers and mentors continuing to enrich this network of support.
At MadresUP, we believe in the strength of each mother and in the power of the community. Together, we build paths of well-being, accompaniment and transformation.
