MadresUP actively participated in the II Seminar “Mental Health, Human Rights and Minoritised Groups”, held on 12 December 2025 at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Seville.
In the second round table of the seminar, the experiences of community intervention developed within the framework of MadresUP with Latin American migrant mothers and Roma mothers were presented and commented on, with an emphasis on the promotion of mental health from a human rights and community-based approach.
In relation to the work with Latin American migrant mothers, Tatiana Duque (CESPYD), Mariana Hernández, a Latin American mother mentor from MadresUP, and Sylvia Villalba (ECCA Social), shared lessons learned, challenges and strengths of the psychosocial and community accompaniment developed with the participants.
The experience of intervention with Roma mothers was presented by Esperanza Hernández (CESPYD), Séfora Borja Jiménez, Roma mother mentor of MadresUP, and Raquel Borja (Yiló Association), highlighting the value of collaborative work, the leadership of the mother mentors and the collective construction of spaces for support and care.
The participation of MadresUP in this seminar contributed to making visible the potential of community-based and participatory approaches to mental health promotion, as well as the importance of placing the voices and experiences of mothers themselves at the centre of interventions.
