The MadresUP project, in alliance with CESPYD’s AndaRomi and RomaCare projects, organised the seminar “Mental Health, Human Rights and Minoritised Groups” at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Seville. The aim of the seminar was to generate a space for reflection and dialogue on mental health and human rights in three minority groups.
The methodology used was in the form of a discussion around thematic tables. Each table was led by members of the MadresUP team. In total there were three tables with the following themes: (1) An Approach to the Mental Health of Migrants in the Detention Centres for Foreigners in Spain, (2) An Approach to the Mental Health of Migrant Mothers of African Origin in Spain, and (3) The Mental Health of Roma Mothers in the Polígono Sur of Seville: The ANDAROMI Project.
We counted on the participation and attendance of undergraduate, Master and PhD students, professionals from various social entities such as Asociación Claver del Servicio Jesuita a Migrantes, Cruz Roja Española, Federación Andalucía Acoge, OXFAM Intermón, Programa ÖDOS and Yiló, as well as representatives from Seville City Council.
