Lo de Tristram (lo de los hijos de Earwicker) a\u00fan no hab\u00eda ocurrido. En la historia de Trist\u00e1n e Isolda, por un error en la ingesta de poci\u00f3n m\u00e1gica, Tristram traicion\u00f3 a su t\u00edo Marcos, y se qued\u00f3 con Isolda. Este Tristram, que es el hijo (o m\u00e1s bien los hijos de Earwicker), a\u00fan no hab\u00eda llegado desde Norte Arm\u00f3rica (Breta\u00f1a) para la guerra penisular, esto es, para arrebatarle Issy al padre. Ni los riscos al borde del r\u00edo Oconne se hab\u00edan pronunciado ante sus tajos, ni una voz en una zarza ardiente hab\u00eda a\u00fan dicho aquello de \u201cyo te bautizo\u201d (como hizo San Patricio en Irlanda); ni lo de \u201ct\u00fa eres Pedro,\u201d ni le hab\u00edan cortado la cabeza a Isaac, ni hab\u00eda pasado lo de la hermana con los dos hermanos, como Swift con las dos Esther.
