Carlos Vivas Venegas
Carlos Vivas holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Seville (2004) with a mention of European Doctorate, obtaining the grade of outstanding cum laude unanimously.
He currently holds teaching and research assignments as a full-time professor in the Department of Systems Engineering and Automation at the University of Seville. Prior to that,he worked for two years as a development engineer for the company SAINCO (currently TELVENT), part of the ABENGOA group, offering design and start-up services for automatic control solutions in the Energy, Industry, Transport and Services sectors.
As a researcher, he is author of 19 publications in prestigious international journals, 17 of them with a JCR impact index. He is the author of 35 publications in international and national congresses, 15 of them belonging to some of the most important congresses in the area of knowledge, of international impact comparable to the journals cataloged in Journal Citation
Report (JCR), with peer review process and international scientific committee (IFAC World Congress, European Control Conference (ECC), American Control Conference (ACC), Conference on Decision and Control (CDC)). He is also co-author of 2 book chapters. He has a recognized six-year research degree (2007-2012) and has directed a doctoral thesis with mention of European doctorate and awarded with the extraordinary doctorate prize.
The researcher is part of the Research group (TEP-201) of the Andalusian Research Plan. He has participated as a researcher in 16 research projects, both national and international public and private funding, and a FP7 project funded by the European Commission, as well as 11
projects of Industrial Design and Production (DPI) and research grants financed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and an international PCI Mediterranean collaboration project of which the applicant has been principal investigator.
He has completed two long-term stays at foreign research centers: (1) Department of Engineering at the University of Leicester (Great Britain), and (2) at the Laboratoire
d’Automatique de Grenoble, Center National de la Reserche Scientifique CNRS ( France).
The researcher has 15 years of teaching experience, from 06/11/2000 to the present, (5 recognized three years between 2000 and 2015) in the university field as a full-time professor.
He has taught a total of 14 different subjects assigned to the area of knowledge of Systems Engineering and Automation, in various degree and master’s degrees. He has also taught, since 2010, 3 subjects corresponding to the campus of International Excellence ATECH, between the Universities of Malaga and Seville, of which he has been coordinator of two of them. Likewise, he has been a professor of 4 courses of the program of the official Doctorate Program in Automation, Robotics and Telematics of the University of Seville in the fields of
Robotics and robust control, a certified program with Mention of Excellence for the 2010/11 courses and 2013/14.
