Atlas of Migraine in Spain 2018<\/strong><\/h2>\n

14\/11\/2018<\/b><\/p>\n

With the aim of evaluating and publicizing the real situation experienced by these patients, the Health & Territory Research Group (HTR) of the University of Seville, in collaboration with the Spanish Migraine and Headache Association (Aemice), Novartis and a scientific committee of neurological experts in migraine, has produced the \u00abAtlas de Migra\u00f1a en Espa\u00f1a 2018\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Unlike other studies, the \u00abAtlas of Migraine\u00bb goes a step further by incorporating the perspective of patients and their families regarding their disease and all that it entails, gathered through a survey carried out by more than 1,200 people with migraine.<\/p>\n

Migraine is not just a headache. It is a complex neurological disorder that affects more than 4 million people in Spain, with a prevalence of 12% of which 80% are women between 20 and 40 years old.<\/p>\n

The diagnostic delay for episodic migraines is 6.4 years on average and 7.3 years for chronic migraines, which are characterised by migraine headaches occurring 15 days or more per month1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Only 25% of respondents had been diagnosed in less than two years2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

24% of people with chronic migraine were on sick leave in the last twelve months3<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Regarding family and social impact: 85% of patients miss social events, 70% miss family events and 68.4% consider that their illness affects the life of their spouse or family4<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
