Atlas of Axial Spondyloarthritis in Spain<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Patients with axial spondyloarthritis, especially ankylosing spondyloarthritis, can take up to 10 years to be diagnosed, according to various experts on the occasion of the publication of the ‘Atlas of Axial Spondyloarthritis in Spain 2017: X-ray of the disease’, by the Spanish Coordinator of Spondyloarthritis Associations (CEADE), the University of Seville and the Max Weber Institute, with the collaboration of the Spanish Society of Rheumatology and Novartis.<\/p>\n

According to Professor Marco Garrido: \u00abInequalities also occur in the same Rheumatology unit, since not all rheumatologists have the same training. In addition, there are differences in the way expenses are managed and in the expectations and training of the patients themselves\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Early diagnosis and appropriate management of patients with AD, with the use of effective treatments and the inclusion of physical therapy and psychological care in the public service portfolio, can contribute to decreasing the disability of patients, increasing their quality of life and their mental health. These measures could lead to a substantial reduction in the direct and indirect costs associated with this disease.<\/p>\n
