Basic and applied exploration of genetic resources in traditional crops: implications for diversification in agriculture and the food sector in Europe

This “Europa Investigación” action aims at supporting the tasks needed to create and coordinate a consortium of European partners to submit a project proposal within the new EU’s Framework Programme Horizon 2020. The project is a research and innovation action within the Societal Challenge 2 “Food security, sustainable agriculture, marine and maritime research and the bio-economy”, and component 2.2 “Sustainable and competitive agri-food sector for a safe and healthy diet”. The planned project falls within the work programme topic “Traditional resources for agricultural diversity and the food chain” (SFS-07a-2014 y SFS-7b-2015). There will be two calls for this topic, one in 2014, which is currently open, and the other in 2015. The objectives of this action deal with the creation of a consortium with European partners and the preparation of a project proposal whose evaluation is of a two-stage type (March and June 2014). Given that the work programme topic will remain open in 2014 and 2015, this action will try it again in 2015 in case of failure in 2014.
