This activity was funded by the VII Plan Propio de Investigaci\u00f3n y Transferencia de la Universidad de Sevilla (US). The event took place at CEPR SAR Infanta Leonor School in Tomares and CEIP Josefa Fr\u00edas in Santiponce, reaching a total of 700 primary school children and 150 preschool children.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Professor Elena M\u00aa Talero Barrientos<\/strong>, from the <strong>Molecular and Applied Pharmacology (CTS-658) group<\/strong> within the Department of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, led this initiative. She was joined by <strong>10 other researchers from the US<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CTS-659 group: Francisco Javier \u00c1vila Rom\u00e1n and Sara Garc\u00eda Gil.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Experimental Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy (CTS-259) group: Marina S\u00e1nchez Hidalgo, M\u00aa \u00c1ngeles Rosillo Ram\u00edrez, Roc\u00edo Mu\u00f1oz Garc\u00eda, and Mar\u00eda Paredes S\u00e1nchez.<\/li>\n<li>Applied Pharmaceutical Chemistry (FQM-408) group: David Casado Jurado.<\/li>\n<li>Characterization and Statistical Optimization of Medicines (CTS-547) group: \u00c1ngel Salazar Gonz\u00e1lez.<\/li>\n<li>Technical, management, administration, and services staff from the Faculty of Pharmacy: Roc\u00edo Guti\u00e9rrez Alc\u00e1ntara and Elena M\u00aa Ogalla Garc\u00eda.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The activity involved a Scientific Challenge comprising several simple, practical, and dynamic experiments. Students became scientists for a day, performing activities such as measuring the pH of foods, extracting DNA from fruits, microscopic visualization of insects, forming solid spheres from liquids, measuring liquid volumes with laboratory pipettes, and observing an antibiogram to learn about antibiotic resistance.
