The e-Perinatal\nproject-led event drew over a hundred professionals, discussing advancements in\nmental health research and practices during pregnancy and postpartum, including\nthe development of a supportive app for new parents.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:post-content --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over a hundred perinatal health care\nprofessionals, especially midwives, attended a <strong>training session<\/strong>\non November 15 and 17 at Universidad Loyola to bring existing research on mental\nhealth in this field closer to professionals.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This activity\u00a0fulfills the mission of promoting the\ncontinuous training of midwives, bringing research closer to this area, and\npromoting spaces for collaboration and discussion with academic experts on\npregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, and more specifically, in this case, on\nmental health associated with this field.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event is organized by the <strong>e-Perinatal\nproject of\u00a0 Universidad Loyola<\/strong>, dedicated to the prevention of mental\nhealth disorders associated with pregnancy and the first year after childbirth.\nResearchers at Universidad Loyola are developing a <strong>personalized app<\/strong>\nfor mothers and their partners. This is a pioneering study in analyzing how to <strong>prevent\ndepression <\/strong>in parents or partners and the effectiveness of such\ninterventions in babies, bringing this knowledge to professionals and society.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The conference<\/strong> featured <strong>experts<\/strong>\nin this field, such as <strong>Rafael Arc\u00e1ngel Caparr\u00f3s<\/strong>, a midwife and professor at the\nUniversidad de Granada, who reflected on the prevalence and clinical course of\nperinatal mental health problems. The consequences of these problems, risk factors,\nand current tools for evaluation, detection, and diagnosis were the main topics\naddressed by the expert.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the first day, <strong>Roser Palau<\/strong>, a researcher at Universidad\nPompeu Fabra and director of a digital project to improve mothers&#8217;\nmental health, DANA, gave a lecture focused on digital intoxication and the\npathologization of pregnancy. The scientist outlined the most relevant aspects\nof the social context of searching for maternal health information today.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lastly, the first day concluded with a\npresentation by <strong>Emma Motrico<\/strong>, a researcher at Universidad Loyola and director of\nthe e-Perinatal project. The scientist discussed the prevention of perinatal\nmental health problems. She presented a series of current evidence and the\nadvancements of the e-Perinatal project, including the development of a\ncomprehensive support application for parents in the perinatal period.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Esther Ramirez Martos<\/strong>, during her intervention on\ntraumatic processes in the perinatal period The second day was initiated by\nhealth psychologist <strong>Esther Ram\u00edrez Martos<\/strong>, an expert in family and perinatal\ntherapy and a lecturer at the European Institute of Perinatal Mental Health.\nThe intervention focused on addressing common traumatic processes such as\nperinatal death or the impact of fertility treatments.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The final intervention was by psychiatrist <strong>Raquel<\/strong>\n<strong>Carmona<\/strong>, an expert in perinatal mental health, who delved into the approach to\ncommon mental health problems in Andalusia in special Perinatal Mental Health\nunits. The physician discussed psychopharmacology during this period and\npresented a practical case of referral. The expert highlighted the importance\nof research in the development of new specific drugs for mental health\ndisorders associated with this stage.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph {\"align\":\"left\"} -->\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The closing was\nconducted by <strong>Irene Agea<\/strong>, president of the Asociaci\u00f3n Andaluza de Matronas,\nwho concluded the event with a motivational speech, encouraging the\ncontinuation of this training.
