Summary: AICIA conducts various experimental and research activities to address operational challenges in an existing pyrolysis plant. Several corrective measures were implemented to increase the plant’s availability, and its performance was characterized through experimental campaigns and the development of simulation models. Additionally, several studies of interest for the process are presented including options for improving energy recovery and measures to reduce the particulate load in the syngas. Finally, a rotary pyrolysis furnace model is developed, and its usefulness as a future analysis and design tool is discussed.
