Duration: 2022-2025
Description: The main objective of this project is to develop, up to TRL 5 (technology validated in a relevant environment), starting from TRL 3, a technically and economically feasible, sustainable process by integrating key technologies —hydrothermal carbonization (HTC), pyrogasification, biological methanation, and reforming— and novel, tailor-made equipment and components (reactors, catalysts, membranes). The aim is to convert both dry and wet biomass (renewable feedstock) and waste materials (non-renewable feedstock) into green methane and green hydrogen. This promotes the use of renewable gases in industrial settings by enabling their cost-effective on-site production, complemented by support from the gas network when necessary.
The ALL-TO-GAS approach is based on optimizing several promising but underutilized technologies, currently limited by challenges such as low performance, high energy consumption, or the generation of undesirable by-products. The project explores innovative solutions in equipment and material design, catalyst development, operational conditions, and system integration models. These advances will contribute to an integrated, scalable, and easily transferable process for the combined and alternative production of green CH₄ and green H₂.
