Julia Fernández Cuesta

Associate Professor at the University of Seville. Her research focuses on English historical linguistics, dialectology, and variation.

She graduated in English Philology and obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Salamanca, Spain. She joined the English Department of the University of Seville in 1988, playing an active role in research projects carried out in that Department since her arrival.

She was granted a research scholarship in Oslo in 1992. During her stay, she became interested in the study of the Northern dialects of British English and initiated, with the support of Michael Benskin, co-author of the Linguistic Atlas of Late Middle English (LALME), a research project that has continued evolving since then.
