Miriam Muñoz-Rojas

Senior researcher

She completed a MSc in Environmental Sciences at Wageningen University (Netherlands) and obtained her PhD at the University of Seville (2012). In 2013, she started a Postdoctoral position at the University of Western Australia, and in 2017 she moved to UNSW Sydney as an ARC DECRA Fellow. Since April 2022 she is a Ramon y Cajal Research Fellow at the University of Seville. Her current research is focused on the ecology, conservation, and restoration of terrestrial ecosystems. She is particularly interested in understanding plant-soil-microbe interactions and harnessing novel methodologies, including geo-tools, genomics, metabolomics, and eco-engineering, to enhance large-scale ecosystem restoration outcomes and ensure the provision of key ecosystem services. She coordinates SOIL DarkDivNet, an add-on study of the global network DarkDivNet. that investigates the impacts of biodiversity on soil ecosystem functions.

Giacomo Puglielli

Senior researcher

He obtained his PhD at Sapienza University of Rome. He was a post-doc at the Estonian University of Life Sciences (Tartu, Estonia) and he is currently a Juan de la Cierva Incorporación fellow at the University of Seville. He is particularly interested in defining general patterns and mechanisms of woody plants adaptations and acclimation responses to tolerate multiple abiotic stresses, from the leaf to the global scale. In his research, he tests ecophysiological and ecological theories by combining functional traits and biogeographical approaches.
